Here are the nominees for the INCUBA Award 2025

When more than 200 investors, founders and partners gather for the Aarhus Investor Summit at Aarhus City Hall, it is also here that the winners of the INCUBA Award 2025 will be announced. The award honours the startups and investors who lead the way and inspire others with their efforts in the Central Jutland startup ecosystem. This year's nominees in the two categories are now ready: Start-up of the Year and Investor of the Year.

Startup of the Year – the nominees

The 16 startups cover a wide range of fields, from life science, biotech and cleantech to AI, SaaS and digital platform development.

Azpire Capital: Aarhus-based fintech that combines academic research and machine learning for responsible investments in cryptocurrency.
Betterhands: Innovative recruitment agency that uses digital marketing to find technical candidates for companies in the industry.
Cacto Health: Develops a medical device for early detection of lymphedema in breast cancer survivors using AI and sensor technology.
Cernel: AI-driven platform that optimizes product data and SEO and reduces working time by up to 80% for e-commerce companies.
Cystotech: Spinout from Skejby that has, in record time, achieved CE approval for an AI-based instrument for treating bladder cancer.
Decameal: Transforms invasive crabs into sustainable protein and raw materials. A project born at Aarhus University and now operating a pilot plant.
Formalize: Compliance software with a strong growth curve and a significant market position. Supported by investors and patents.
Kanpla: SaaS platform for canteens, already in use at more than 4,000 locations in 10 countries and backed by a Series A of DKK 60 million.
Kripthonite: Builds on 15 years of research at Aarhus University and develops new cancer treatments. Has raised its first pre-seed investment.
Landfolk: Platform for renting personal holiday homes with a focus on quality, aesthetics, and authentic experiences.
MedicQuant: Point-of-care technology that measures drug concentrations in under 10 minutes. Has raised DKK 12 million.
Norfalk: Biotech startup developing sustainable biosurfactants as an alternative to fossil-based ingredients in cosmetics and cleaning products.
Roccai: AI platform that guides users through complex decisions, from e-commerce to education choices and fertility treatments.
Understory: Serial entrepreneurs behind Truestory now launching an AI-driven booking and marketing platform with €12 million in Series A funding.
VRpilot: VR-based training systems for both civil aviation and fighter pilot training, increasingly relevant in the defense industry.
Watopi Hospital: Develops decentralized wastewater treatment solutions with ceramic membranes that reduce emissions and ease the burden on sewer systems.

Investor of the Year – the nominees

Fourteen investors are in the running for the award, including both experienced profiles and new strong forces. What the nominees have in common is that, with their capital, experience and networks, they contribute to developing the next generation of growth companies – and lift the entire ecosystem.

  • Anders Thorhauge Sandholm: Business angel with global experience from Google. Active in, among others, Figurement and Coana, and known as a strong mentor.
  • Berit & Christian Klibo: Have taken the lead role in several medtech investments, including Cystotech, and strengthen the DanBAN community.
  • Christoffer Hübertz Christensen: Co-founder of Heymate. Seven exits and active investor in more than 16 companies, where he contributes to business development and digital growth.
  • Geeta Schmidt: General Partner at Seed Capital and former CEO of Humio with a global exit of 400 million dollars. Strong sparring partner in cybersecurity.
  • Jesper Hvejsel: Former Firtal Group. Business angel focusing on e-commerce and SaaS. Known for taking early bets and closely supporting founders.
  • Jon Risvig: Partner at VækstPartner Kapital. Brings PE experience and industrial insight that help scaleups with strategic transformation.
  • Katja Meyer: Angel investor and venture scout at Ada Ventures. Engages in impact startups and supports founders with operational sparring.
  • Kresten Krab Thorup: Co-founder of Humio and Trifork. Now a business angel focusing on scalable technologies and active in Aarhus’ ecosystem.
  • Martin Schorling Overgård: Leads AURA Ventures. Invests in green transition and connects startups with energy infrastructure and pilot projects.
  • Mikkel Salling: Co-founder of Firtal Group. Active investor in digital companies and engaged sparring partner for founders with global ambitions.
  • Mikkel Skorkjær Kongfelt: Serial entrepreneur and investor with experience from RadiSurf. Has been highly active in 2024 and 2025 with multiple investments.
  • Morten Larsen: Known from Hungry.dk and Løvens Hule (Dragon’s Den). Experienced serial entrepreneur with a strong network in e-commerce and digital growth.
  • Stefan Rosenlund: Dreamers Collective. Serial entrepreneur and business angel who turns exits into new growth capital and active sparring.
  • Søren Arnsbo: Arnsbo Group. Venture builder with experience from more than 22 ventures. Provides both capital and shared services to growth companies.

A strong jury with experience in investment, law, business development, and the ecosystem

The jury selecting this year’s winners consists of:

Celebrating the role models of the ecosystem

In addition to the honor, the winners will receive a travel grant of DKK 35,000 for an international study and networking trip in late summer 2026.

“Through the INCUBA Awards, we celebrate the startups and investors who lead the way with success, courage, and ambition – and who, through their efforts, create ripple effects across the entire ecosystem,” says Jacob Doktor Mogensen, CEO of INCUBA.

The winners will be announced at Aarhus Investor Summit on October 9, 2025.
