Cernel cements investment from prominent tech profiles at Aarhus Investor Summit 2024

INCUBA startup Cernel has raised DKK 5 million in an investment round led by venture fund Founderment, experienced business angels and EIFO, which was cemented at Aarhus Investor Summit 2024, where Cernel pitched their platform. The investment will allow Cernel to accelerate their software solution, which functions as a digital department consisting of specialised AI agents. These agents can automate and handle all the time-consuming tasks related to content and lay the foundation for a new growth strategy for e-commerce companies.

Cernel's solution allows e-commerce companies to improve their data to increase organic traffic on Google, ensure product data maintenance and scale faster to international markets. This is done through a series of AI agents, each specialising in a specific area. For example, an SEO agent automatically optimises content to help your business rank better on Google - both locally and globally. A product agent finds missing product information and automatically generates high-quality product descriptions.

These AI agents work autonomously, meaning they not only identify errors and optimisation opportunities, but also make decisions and perform tasks based on data. The goal of Cernel AI agents is to eliminate the need for unnecessary manual labour and expects to save e-commerce companies up to 80% of the time spent creating content.

Strong investors back the young startup

The investors behind Cernel include the Aarhus-based venture fund Founderment, experienced business angels Stefan Rosenlund, Jesper Hvejsel, Mikkel Salling, Anders Sandholm and Kresten Thorup and EIFO.

Christian Vinther, Investment Director at Founderment, emphasises the strong potential he sees in the Cernel team: ‘The Cernel team is like rough diamonds. They are both technically skilled, curious and ambitious, which is a key part of the founder DNA we look for when we invest. It's a unique combination that gives them great potential for success, and we're excited to join them on their journey.’

Jesper Hvejsel, CEO of Firtal Group, long-time entrepreneur and investor in e-commerce and SaaS, sees a particular strength in Cernel's product and solution: ‘I know exactly how challenging it can be to keep all the data in your webshop up to date and accurate - it's a problem I face in several of the businesses I have invested in. When I saw Cernel's solution, I knew it could solve many of our challenges in this area. That's why I quickly became a customer,’ he says and adds:

‘I'll be following Cernel's development even more closely going forward as I've been allowed to invest in the company. I love that the team has a clear problem-first approach that focuses on solving real problems, rather than building tech for tech's sake. Cernel addresses a key need for us in e-commerce, which is why I really believe in the case from an investor perspective,’ he concludes.

Cernel is strengthened for future growth

With the capital and expertise of their new investors, Cernel is ready for the next step. CEO Andreas Busch says:

‘We are incredibly grateful to have investors with such extensive experience in our field on board. They each provide invaluable feedback in areas where we need additional insight ourselves, and we are confident that their expertise will strengthen us in our further development. With the capital raised, we can now accelerate our scaling to reach larger customers and mid-market webshops that can really benefit from our solution. We look forward to this next phase and to creating value for a wider customer base.’
